Who do I call?
Who do you know? If you know a contractor that you like they can refer you to a designer or an architect if need be. Like a particular designer or architect? They will have a list of contractors that they enjoy working with. It’s that simple, so just ask around or browse various portfolios and gravitate towards the styles and personalities that you enjoy.
Who do I need?
How much do you want to be involved? If you love designing and already have styles and materials in mind and just need some talent to execute the ideas then a contractor should be sufficient. If you don’t enjoy the nuts and bolts of construction then you should start with a designer first and foremost as the decisions and details for even a small bathroom can be mind boggling, tedious, and wearing. The scope of a designer will typically range from towel bars to small additions. For large renovations requiring a good deal of structural engineering you should start with an architect, followed by enlisting a designer, and then finally a contractor.
Bathrooms
Bathrooms have been proven to give some of the best returns on investments financially and in terms of quality of living. It’s where you start you’re day before heading out into the world and should be your sanctuary when you return.
Kitchens
The center of almost all family action where breakfast is enjoyed, dinner prepared, and now where most entertaining happens with friends. It is the nucleus of family activity and should be a calm and inspiring place.
Major renovations
Sometimes you just have to strip it down and start over to make it just the way you like it. Technology in construction and home amenities has advanced so far over the years that often it’s easier to just start from scratch. Newer building codes and regulations have made the modern home so much stronger and efficient than years past. Seismic upgrades and energy efficacy are some of the unseen heros in modern homes all the while truly having your own personal space just the way you enjoy it without compromises.
The Honey-do List
It’s the little things that add up to big annoyances. Sometimes you think that you need a full bathroom renovation when a new shower head fixes 90% of the aggravation you experience. Often clients may have a second house or vacation home that builds up years of deferred maintenance, but who wants to deal with that on the few precious days available to enjoy the place? Going through the home and updating the fixtures, replacing all of the lightbulbs, tuning sticky doors have a dramatic effect without much imposition and quite cost effective.

Our specialty is from ground up construction and additions up to ~2000sq.ft. to just dressing up a bathroom with new fixtures. Both ends of the spectrum have their challenges and rewards and we welcome them both.
Design
We’ve done many designs from new homes to small bathrooms and focus on mostly the overall picture to get the spirit of the project underway, and often let either a designer handle the finite details, or welcome the homeowner to do so if they enjoy the challenge.
